ISS 2007: An Analysis- KUTTAN

ISS -08 is around the corner. The corruption , injustice and partiality that happened in ISS-07 is known to everybody. This has been discussed and analyzed well in this forum. But in the end what happened? - The winner happily went away with the big prize money. (along with the ARTIFICIAL sms votes and liberal marks given by the judges).

This show is a business to make money for the channel in the name of 'promoting young talented singers'. Only the channel and the winner are benefitted out of this show. They are using other participants as machines to earn money and demanding them to sacrifice their education for a long period. As viewers, we are wasting our time and money (for sms). So when you analyse from any angle it is a total loss to the society by encouraging such programmes.

Another point is that in the name of identifying the best singer they are including stupid rounds such as 'romance round' and 'property round' along with 'performance round' and torturing the singers. They are including these rounds to attract viewers. In that case there should be separate awards for these rounds such as 'best in Romancing' (For this round ,MG can be the leading judge),'best in using the property' , 'best performer' and 'best singer'. Otherwise it will be great injustice to the really good singers (like Durga and Thushar)to include the romance marks etc in the total marks incase they don't perform well in such stupid rounds ,(still being excellent singers) it will effect in thier total marks , forcing them to fall behind those (markswise) who are inferior to them in singing ability.

We also witnessed how a simple man like Sanni has been brutally mocked and attacked in public in an uncivilized manner by the cruel judges and in the end successfully managed to bribe him after making enough money using him. That too in the 21st century.

It is very sure that history will be repeated in ISS-08 also. In this money making process by the channel there is no place for truth and fairplay. Do you want to waste your time and money for another long episode of corruption that is nearing and support the channel for this?
Distribute this prize money among the poor who really deserve it.

Exactly! Moreover, the public should react to the current result. Ask opinions from eminent singers such as Dasettan. It was ridiculous to give the first place to Najim. And no one should waste their money in sms. They have already decided the winner of iss - 08 too, if I am not mistaken.

I agree to some of the points kuttan written, but to me it was truely an entertaiment time, no matter how busy and tired I was I was in front of the tv at 2030.If u think SMS shoudn't be there don't send sms, no one is forcing you to do it. If a student is completely into studies, they shouldn't be going for these types of competitions. Since asianet started this program we came to know excellent singers like Durga, Thushar and Vrun etc. If you are a talented singer and dancer and stay home, how would you be able to perform your talents, and how would you nurture your talents. Yes of course asianet made money, it is their business but think of the beautiful moments Durga, Thushar and Najim had in this show.Think of the improvement they made, even this show helped Sanni a lot, he is making money and he can make the ends meet. All 45 of them are thankful to asianet for giving them a chance and most of them are supporting their family now.

    Cynthia,

I have to disagree wtih your comments, especially about sanni. Here is a very poor poor kid. Even looking at his parents you know that they are extremely poor. He came to the show and sang his heart out. MG and company encouraged him. Then they realised that his popularity is a threat to themselves, they back stabbed him. I liked kuttn's comment about how he was brutually mocked and attacked in an uncivilised manner for constantly 3 months and everyday these three judges and renjini announces 1000 times to vote with your conscience. Poor sanni he took it like a man. He did not cry everyday. One day they even got Ganesh kumar to announce to the world he was the greediest person. Ganesh kumar said his agent which turned out to be his brother is also greedy. How much do you charge Mr. Ganesh Kumar for a movie? Finally the gave money to sanni to get him and was stupid enough to announce that his well wishers from Dubai gave him 3 lakhs. For all the insult he took this money is nothing cynthia, how do u feel if some one spits on your face every day and at the end of the day give you 100 rupees, will yoube happy??????

What the hell are you talking about?
"All 45 of them are thankful to asianet for giving them a chance and most of them are supporting their family now"

Do you know how much money asianet made from this show. You talking crores and crores rupees. They signed a cheap copntract with the singers for 2 years and used them to promote their stupid FM channel.

Asianet should be thanking them. Ok.

If every year Asianet is making 45 new singers thru idea star singer, no one will be successful in market due to heavy competition. I have a request to the contestants of ISS-2008. Do never make the mistake of sacrificing your studies for the show. You'll repent at the end.Your fame and glory will vanish when the new idea star singers come.

As far as ASIANET is concerned, the bottom line for any program be it ISS '07 or '08 seems to be only profit.Promoting/encouraging/identifyingtalent etc are all merely the means to achieve the end result i.e make money. Well done ASIANET, you have succeeded in driving this point crystal clear. Perhaps Asianet can change the lyrics of the title song for ISS 08 to ( Kunjan Nambiar's famous saying) "Deepa-sthambam Maha-schriyam Namukkum Kittanam Panam".

That was a very apt quote, Chandran. Money is the only thing involved here. I think everyone should understand this and not waste their emotions and energy on such shows.

Prakash, you are like the one among those 84 unfortunate participants who are completely ignorant of what is going on. Hope you have not watched ISS-2007. If you did and are making this statement, I feel extreemly sorry for you. You should ask the crews of ISS-2008 to know who the winner is. Otherwise wait until the megafinal like other fools. If you don't want to do any of these and you are clever enough, you will come to know after a few episodes from the attitudes of judges like MG Sreekumar who sponsored Najim for ISS-2007. Good Luck.
